Dr. Julie Kornfeld Leaves Legacy of Leadership in Master of Public Health Programs

Julie Kornfeld, Ph.D., M.P.H., Director of Public Health Programs in the Department of Public Health Sciences and Assistant Dean for Public Health at the Miller School of Medicine, has been named Vice Dean for Education at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. In that role, she will have oversight for all of the school’s doctoral and master’s programs.

Dean Goldschmidt Inspires Regional Campus Students and Faculty with Special Presentation

October 29 was a special day for students, residents, physicians and faculty leadership on the Regional Campus at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Fla. Pascal J. Goldschmidt, M.D., Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean of the Miller School of Medicine and CEO of UHealth, paid a special visit to the campus to do a grand rounds presentation on the future of health care and hold an informal town hall meeting .

Inaugural 'Stethoscopes for Students' Program Generates Enthusiastic Response

Only weeks into his first year at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Jeremy Freedman considers himself lucky to have already earned one of the most recognized symbols of the medical profession. The 31-year-old from Miami was recently given his very first stethoscope, courtesy of a new initiative created by the School’s Medical Alumni Association called “Stethoscopes for Students.”

MPA Orientation Urges Families to Get Involved

Amid the pride and excitement of sending their daughters and sons off for the first year at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, parents recently had the opportunity to see how they, too, can become a vital link in the educational experience. The Medical Parents Association (MPA) held an orientation session August 5 to welcome the Class of 2019, and to urge their families to get involved.

Miller School Medical Students Collaborate with Provincial Minister of Health in Dominican Republic

Through the support of the non-profit organization Medical Students in Action (MSA), University of Miami Miller School of Medicine M.D. and M.D./M.P.H. students met with the Dominican Republic’s Provincial Director of Health, Manuel Antonio Hilario Acevedo, M.D., in San Cristobal on July 10 to collaborate on the development of a community health worker program.
